Elizabeth May campaign discussed on Bloggers Hotstove

Bloggers Hotstove, a weekly audio show in which various bloggers (generally Grits and Tories) discuss federal political events, is now available for download for Sunday 29 October.

The topic given most coverage was the London by-election, and each of the participating candidates known thus far. Extensive discussion concerned Green Party of Canada leader Elizabeth May, including May's background as a policy advisor, the Greens not being "left wing", etc.

Liberal wonk Jason Cherniak laughed mockingly when the issue of letting party leaders run uncontested in by-elections came up, comparing the Green Party to the Marxist-Leninist Party. But the reality is that the would-be-lawyer from Toronto showed his ignorance - the Green Party received more than 1.2 million votes over the past two elections, has procured federal electoral funding in the seven figures, and participates in House of Commons committees.

Oh, and Jason, ask Judy Stewart (Liberal candidate during the 2006 election) just how "fringe" the Green Party is - she finished behind a Green Party candidate.
